# That Stormy Jersey Render Isn't Real. It Should Be.

There's a render going around of a black Canes jersey with Struttin' Stormy as the chest crest instead of the flag logo, and my first reaction was that I'd buy it immediately. My second reaction was to check whether it was real, because it looked plausible enough that I wasn't sure.

It's not. It's a concept, somebody's mockup. But it's the kind of concept that makes you a little annoyed it doesn't exist.

Here's the thing that actually gets me though. The team is already most of the way there.

They put Struttin' Stormy on the road whites as a patch back in September of 2025\. And when they announced it, Doug Warf basically said the quiet part out loud, which is that they'd been selling that pig on merch for years, fans went crazy for it every single time, and the question they kept getting was when it was going to show up on an actual jersey. So they finally put it on one. As a patch.

He also explained the thinking behind it, and honestly it's the best argument for the whole idea. Look around the Triangle. Duke, UNC, NC State, even ECU, everybody has one of these old collegiate mascot logos. That vintage cartoon thing is just what sports looks like around here. Stormy in the varsity sweater fits Raleigh in a way that a lot of NHL branding doesn't fit anywhere.

And it's not like the pig is some marketing invention from three years ago. Stormy has been here since the first season in 1997\. He's tied to the state, to the hog industry, to the whole reason this franchise landed in North Carolina instead of somewhere else. He's more genuinely local than almost anything else about the team.

So yeah, I like the render. But what I like more is that we're clearly heading in this direction anyway and everybody knows it.

The patch was the trial balloon. It worked. Fans loved it. The next step is obvious and the team has already admitted they hear us asking for it.

Put the pig on the chest. Make it a third jersey, make it a special, I don't care. I'll be in line.
